OPENING SOON: STOCKHOLM’S NEW TOY MUSEUM
In the first weekend of September we will be throwing open the doors to an exciting new locale in the heart of Stockholm. Close to 40,000 toys and comic originals are being transferred here this spring from Tidö Castle to be given a new lease of life in Skeppsholmen’s underground Bergrummet, where dozens of handpicked specialists are creating a modern museum in celebration of fun and games.
We see our toys and comic originals as mirrors of their time. Through innovative displays and modern technology, we place our exhibits in their historical context and share their fascinating stories. We hope Bergrummet will give visitors of all ages a chance to delve back into their own childhood toy boxes and inspire the generations to revel in the spirit of shared nostalgia.
WELCOME TO BERGRUMMET, 2 SEPTEMBER 2017
The museum will have its official opening on 2 September 2017. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated.
ABOUT TIDÖ AND THE COLLECTION
The Tidö Collection of Toys and Comics was assembled by the von Schinkel family over six decades, and contains a stunning array of toys dating from the 17th century to modern times. The collection, which is now being transferred from Tidö Castle to its new permanent home on Skeppsholmen, also includes a large number of original comics by Swedish and foreign cartoonists covering different eras and genres.
